Our Sponsored Child
I, was privelaged on February 6th, 2012 to experience the wonder that is Haiti. While there, I witnessed not only the destruction from the 7.0 earthquake in 2010, but the miracles God is working in Haiti and the hope that exists in it's people! Mission of Hope, is just one of many Christian organizations that exists to first, share the gospel of Jesus Christ; and second, to meet their physical needs in this impoverished land. One thing that really struck a chord in my heart is the simplicity in what we can do right where we are. One example is Ducles, a 7th grader that New Fire will be sponsoring starting in March (I will post his profile soon). He attends Mission of Hope's Christian school, but each student must be sponsored. $35 a month provides funds for Ducles to eat, have uniforms, school supplies, and help pay his teachers. In addition, Tabitha and I are personally sponsoring another child, Destine, also a 7th grader at the school. I am excited to see not only what God does in Ducles through the students' giving, but how He will open students hearts to global missions.
